The Peoria, Illinois City Council voted to waive fees for food trucks and mobile carts for licenses in 2026. This is part of an effort to bring more cuisine options to its downtown area, according to a report by Central Illinois Proud.

These licenses will be valid downtown, but food trucks operating in larger Peoria County will need to pay a fee to the health department. Food truck can operate in multiple spots in downtown including around the Peoria County Courthouse.

The ordinance also allows up to five food trucks to work in the city, up from three.
